Where every figure comes from.
An appraisal is only worth what it can prove. This page explains what is kept, how findings are graded, and what the three verdicts mean.

Frame citationA finding records the second of video it was seen in. The report shows the still, not a description of it.
Retained evidenceExtracted frames are stored with the appraisal for six months, so an item questioned inside that window can still be opened.
Rule-based gradingGrades and verdicts come from written rules with measurements and thresholds, shown on the finding. The same input produces the same output.
Three verdicts, one rule each
AcceptableWithin the tolerance for that panel or component. Recorded, not charged.7 mm chip / 10 mm limit
ChargeableOutside tolerance. Priced where a rate exists; otherwise shown as unpriced rather than zero.85 mm paint loss / 25 mm limit
Needs inspectionThe footage could not settle it. Named as a question for a person, never guessed.possible crease behind the dent
NAMA grades 1 to 5 and U are shown as a filled square with the numeral, never a colour alone. BVRLA thresholds in the product are our implementation of the published guide; we do not claim BVRLA verification or endorsement.
NAMA grading explained: grades 1 to 5 and U →What happens to a walkaround after it is filmed.
Where it goes, how long it stays and who reads it. Asked by everyone who has to sign the data-processing schedule, so it is written down rather than left to the schedule.
Kept with the appraisal for six monthsFrames extracted from a walkaround are stored with the appraisal for six months, so a recharge raised weeks after the event still has its still. A retention sweep runs daily against that window, and the period is stated in our privacy notice.
The whole clip, up to 750 MBA 4K walkaround off a modern phone is a large file, so the upload accepts one up to 750 MB and sends it in pieces while the operator films. A brief drop in signal is absorbed and the transfer carries on. A longer one falls back to sending the finished file from the handset, which holds it either way — the walkaround is not lost when the yard has no bars.
